Introduction

'Experienced Vets for your much loved pets'

Gerard Winnard heads the small animal team at Westmorland. He grew up near the market town of Settle and both his parents were teachers in Clitheroe.

Growing up they always had lots of pets and he spent time working on local farms and realised from an early age that being a vet was what he really wanted to do.

His dream became a reality when he qualified in 1991 and eventually settled in Kendal when he got a job here at Westmorland. 'I feel privileged to be working in such a beautiful area and I am passionate about caring for pets. I strive to provide the kind of service I would want for my own animals and its great to work with a team who thinks the same way'.

Our caring and professional team of vets and nurses are fully qualified to provide your pet with the very best of veterinary care 24 hours a day.

Our experienced team are dedicated to providing regular preventative healthcare advice to help keep your pet healthy throughout its life, however, should your pet become ill, our dedicated small animal vets, working with state of the art equipment and facilities are able to offer a wide range of medical and surgical investigations and treatments, providing an exceptional level of care.

We have fully equipped surgeries at Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale, both are easily accessible and have ample parking available.

Here's what some of our clients say:

"From the start I had every confidence in the treatment my dog was given. The vets, nurses and reception staff could not have been more helpful"

"I have been with Westmorland Vets ever since they took over the local veterinary practice some years ago. During this period there has been a consistency in professionalism to both pets (and their sometimes distraught owner!) that would be difficult to match. Having had a pet shop myself I know this confidence is shared by many others. Well done all of you"

David - Kirkby Lonsdale

"I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the many years of excellent care that I have received from the Westmorland Veterinary Group, whether it be for general advice in times of concern, relatively minor ailments or more serious illnesses requiring hospitalisation. It is comforting to know that at any time help is just a phone call away."

Together we have achieved many successes with happy outcomes but inevitably there have been sad times where difficult decisions have to be made and the kindness and understanding of all the staff will always be remembered."

John Wray

I have been with Westmorland Vets since 2007. I first went for a second opinion on one of my standard poodles. From the start I had every confidence in the treatment Louie was given. The vets, nurses and reception staff could not have been more helpful and sympathetic under traumatic circumstances.

I have three standard poodles and a small cross breed. Unfortunately one of the poodles has recently been diagnosed with Addison's Disease. Whilst this disease cannot be cured it is treatable and the attention and care that has been given to Georgia has been excellent. She has to have blood tests and take tablets for the rest of her life. I was not familiar with the disease but the vets were very helpful and talked me through procedures and things to look for with regards a further crisis. With the help of these great vets I am sure I will be able to manage and that Georgia will have a long and happy life.

I have been a client of Westmorland Veterinary Group for many years and would not use the services of any other vets.

All the staff (vets, nurses and admin) are all excellent at their respective jobs.

The admin staff make you feel welcome on arrival and are always very polite. Nothing is too much trouble. They will do whatever they can to assist you.
